Design Question Follow Up

Earlier this week, I posted this article, asking for your opinion on what I could hang on the walls behind my master bedroom bed.  From everyone's comments, it seemed that it was hard to fully answer my query unless more information about the rest of the room was provided.

The master bedroom is limited because of two major windows, an entrance into our master bath, two very large dressers that need significant space on walls and a hallway (where our closets are located).

Here are a couple of more pictures, as requested:

Very large window on one wall

Asymmetrical window on another wall

One of two very large dressers

Entrance to master en suite

Hallway into master, closets on left
As mentioned earlier this week, this year we would like to give this room some lift and changes, including: painting grey, updating light fixtures to incorporate more glass and silver, maybe painting out some of the wood, changing knobs of dressers, changing window treatments, adding a throw, etc.

So here are my questions for you:

-What sort of thing(s) could I hang behind the bed?
-What could I put on top of the dressers?  They are really high so not functional for makeup, jewellery, etc. but I would still like to dress them up a bit
- Window treatment ideas?

Thanks!

  1. Could you put the bed on the dresser wall?

That is where it was originally when there was no bathroom ensuite ... may be time to try again ... the challenge is where to put the 2nd large dresser that is on that wall ... the dimensions of the room will make a walk through tight.

  3. I would try to move the bed too...do you need THAT dresser in your room? can't you buy something more to scale and move this one to another space? Also then you can get window treatment that is the same for the 2 window (no tabs).?

  4. Designwali: Thanks for the comment. Perhaps we will try to move around and i will let you know how it goes. Unfortunately the dresser is needed for clothes and even if we went with something slightly smaller, a wall space is needed and the depth of the piece would likely be the same (and have the same impact on walk-through areas). what makes the dressers so big is their height mainly, they're not so wide. As far as your suggestion re: window treatments being the same ... you mean in pattern? You're not a fan of tabs? Sorry I'm new at window treatments. Thanks again.

  5. For behind the bed, what about masking the window by hanging fabric floor to ceiling? Choose something with colour and pattern that you love to give the room a focal point. If you do that, change the treatment on the big window to something simple and streamlined so the focus is only the wall behind the bed.
Over the dresser, do a picture collage and don't put anything on top... except maybe a colourful bowl for junk. I also see a fun glam chandelier over your bed... and maybe 2 lamps for either side of the bed with glass or metal for some reflection. When can we go shopping?!
